TRANSPORTATION FOR BAGDAD STUDENTS
Welcome Bulldog’s
Bagdad students have 4 ways to arrive and depart school.
#1. Most desired…Bus if you are outside the district’s 1/2 mile radius from the school you can select to have your student ride the bus. You can contact the Transportation Department https://santarosaschools.org/en-US/trans
Board Policy 8.31 sets the reasonable walking distance as 2 miles from the school. Florida Department of Education Policy 6A-3.001(3) further sets the reasonable walk zone as one and one-half (1 1/2) miles between the home and the assigned bus stop.
As a courtesy, the transportation department will make every effort to shorten the walk zones as listed below, however may not be able to do so in all cases.
**Grades K – 5:**up to 1/2 mile (Kindergarten parents/guardians need to be at the bus stop location with photo ID for drop-off and pick-up).
#2 Car Rider (Student Drop Off- and Pick-up) Parents may arrive for Drop-off and Pick-up
NO EARLIER THEN 30 min prior to drop-off start time 0645am, and Pick-up Start time 1:30pm (Please request a car tag from your students homeroom teacher)
Please review our schools short video about our Student Drop-off and Pick-up line directions on our website. From Forsyth Street take Bushnell St. to Water St. (Dead End) turn right and follow to Oak St., turn right and continue to our Drop-off/Pick up point. Please do not use Simpson St. (Back of school). This is reserved for local home owners to bypass the lines as well as school delivery trucks. You will be asked to turn around and use our established directions. In addition to avoiding Simpson St., avoid Dorr St. This is reserved for Buses only. For safety reasons have your child ready on the passenger side of your vehicle and wait for one of our staff members to open the door. Your student will then walk to the gate and cars will then move forward when directed by assigned safety person with Stop/Go sign. We also have an information Flyer for parents with common issues associated with our line. Please remember the line follows through the communities housing area and we are doing our best to keep the positive relationship and partnership with our community neighbors.
Each year we have had more students added to this method of arriving to school due to increased student enrollment. Please have your child ready to exit your vehicle from the PASSENGER side only.
#3 Front Walker Forsyth St. (least desired, but required due to transportation limitations)
This method MUST BE APPROVED by Principal Tiphanie Sapp based on location of residence within the .5 mile (No bus pick-up location), age/grade of student (Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st Grade students not eligible unless escorted by parent.)
Students will wait at the crosswalk until directed to cross by our crossing guard (She will have a list approved students). The crossing guard will let your student into our Media Center door. Students needing assistance/escort to breakfast/classroom will be assigned a safety patroller until they are familiar with, and comfortable with the process on their own.

#4 Walker-Dorr St. Art Bldg. Gate (not desired but, required due to Transportation limitations)
This method MUST ALSO BE APPROVED by Principal Tiphanie Sapp based on location of residence being on the East side of Forsyth (Thompson St., Cross St., Ella St., Overman St., Bushnell St., Dorr St., Oak St., Water St., Simpson St.) within the .5 mile (No bus pick-up location), age/grade of student (Pre-K, Kindergarten, 1st Grade students not eligible unless escorted by parent.)
